Is she hiding eggs?

My flock is just over 18 weeks old. My Delaware cockerel has been mounting my receptive RIR. Her comb and wattles are very red. I have yet to see any eggs. The flock free range from about 9 or so until dusk. Is she hiding eggs?? Do I have to watch chicken TV?

Well you are free ranging so maybe so.
I have 6 nest boxes and 3 golf balls in each nest. This helps them to know where to lay.
However i still get crafty hens every so often that finds a place better to her liking. Behind the wood pile, under some stacked lumber, behind the garage under a bush....
Im sure you will be getting eggs soon.

To get them used to laying in the nesting boxes, either lock them in a run attached to the coop or in the coop itself for a couple of days. But not in the coop if it is going to be super hot outside! Good luck! Post when you discover your long-waited for eggs!

My little red girl was one of the best I ever had. It's a toss up between her and the black male. I miss them both dearly.

Our heat wave will break Friday and I planned to leave them locked into the coop/run Friday and Saturday. I have ceramic eggs in the nest boxes and curtains in front of the openings to the nest boxes.
They are going to be mad about not getting let out. I honestly think it's going to be harder on me than them though!
