Is she shrink wrapped or just fine?

She is last to hatch so far and I put her in late (day 3). Today is day 22 since starting the hatch but for her may be more like day 20 since a late addition.

She pipped all the way through yesterday morning and now it’s 7p so over 24 hours. I peeled back some shell just now to see what’s happening and put on coconut oil and I’m still not sure exactly what IS happening. She’s actively breathing and moving her beak but isn’t crying, unless I touch her (like when I put in coconut oil I think she was startled). I started wondering if she is shrink wrapped. 3 have been born out of 9 so far and I’m keeping the bater going not just for her but in the event any others are late hatchers. I don’t have enough experience to know but I thought maybe this is a real shrink wrap? I don’t think I can post a video

Thanks! Right after I posted that she seemed to start making a little more progress on the membrane. Not 100% sure what a real problem looks like vs a 'leave it alone'

Wow I think she was actually shrink wrapped. I know the article says it's rare, but she seemed to be. We did have some fluctuations in the bater from 29-45 for some of these cold and warm days recently. I ended up unshrinking her head and it was a tight wrap, I don't know how to say for sure but every time I left her by her self she couldn't move. So anyway, she's doing well!

Did she end up hatching out or is she still waiting to hatch? When I am assisting a shrink wrapped chick, I tear/push back enough of the membrane to free the head/shoulders, and then put them back in the incubator and let them push out the rest of the way if possible.

She did! I did exactly that and she hatched just fine after that. It was not exactly pleasant but reading and re-reading that guide gave me confidence in what I was doing. And I do believe she was shrink wrapped. I’m going to really try to keep my humidity levels more stable next time. It’s hard when the heater is on and then clicks off for the day and it gets really humid (relatively speaking) while I’m gone. The humidity spikes but I’m going to keep at it. I had 3 other formed chicks who never hatched unfortunately. They are still in there incubating just in case. 4 hatched

That is wonderful that your little chick hatched and well. ❤️

I don't know anything about hatching issue.
Last year I had an egg that all outer shell was broken except the membrane was only broke a little bit. After half a day like that I removed the membrane so the chick can come out, a bit of blood on her tummy, I read that it is the egg york. I did not remove it. Mother hen took over after that and the baby chick is healthy and well. I thought we were lucky that she is well.
