I don't even know what to say. She's being really wierd. Just watch here . She wasn't like this yesterday or even today that I noticed. Also, she's one of my older gals. Still lays, she's eating and drinking over all, normally just fine. Maybe a bit crotchety but she is like 90. Lol. Idk she is like tweeking out or hallucinating that she's got bugs on her. She doesn't. That I could tell. I'm confused. So I separated her.

My chick grew out of it, but the behavior was exactly like that. At the end of the backward scuttle she would collapse and lie on her head for a few minutes, then get up as if nothing was wrong.

The only information I was able to find indicated it might be some form of chicken epilepsy.

It seems a bit like a seizure. She seems to have what looks like a “postictal phase” at the end. I don’t know anything about this in birds, so I’m not sure if my observation is helpful. But, I’d be inclined to suspect that it was a mild seizure.

But she was doing it for a min and then stopped to eat, it started again, she did a summersault, got up to eat and drink some water, did it again, etc... She's still kinda acting wild. I've been trying to figure something out all afternoon and I can say that she does often walk backwards like when you're walking at her. Not fast or for too long, just a couple steps maybe but I see thats not normal and perhaps a Neuro issue as well.. I want to state again, this is the first time I've seen her do this, she's otherwise fine. All tho she does prefer to sleep and lay her egg inside this barrel we have in their barn. Idk if that's related but she prefers inside of a barrel to the roost with all the others. Lol

It is really strange. I see why you’re concerned. It’s good she’s eating and drinking tho! Maybe she just had a wild itch!

Perhaps she's trying to tell me she wants to do dance... With the twirling her head and summersaults and all. Sheesh. Idk. I just had to cull one of my hens from my last hatch in like January the night before last. She had water on her and I couldn't get it to drain she was drowning I feel like so I had to do it. It was my first time on one of my own birds. I don't want to have to do it again so soon but idk what this lady's deal is and I hope she snapped out of it by the time I get home.
