Last night (a/b 10 o'clock) one of my eggs started to pip and now I can see it's beak. It's made a hole and one small piece of shell has fallen off but she's not making any progress. She does sometimes push and makes cracks in the shell but can't seem to crack them OFF. It's been roughly 10 hours and she doesn't seem to make any progress or try to unzip. Should I be ready to interfere? Or is this normal? Shes been chirping tho and seems to wake up her other egg friends as they are starting to pip too. What do I do? She also seems to open her mouth repeatedly and fast. Is she still absorbing her yolk? Help!

A chick usually rests for about 24 hours after pipping before it actually begins the process of unzipping. I wouldn't be too worried. Everything seems normal so far.

You could also upload a picture of the membrane - if it looks white then most likely what all the experts said :) If it looks yellow then you might have a humidity issue
