Is the water still good?

Hi All,

I have a few gallons of rainwater that I bottled and put in the fridge last winter. Wondering if it is still good.

Almost certainly not for giving to the chickens. It is unlikely the containers were perfectly sterile and nothing not sterile fell in or was washed in. Over that much time, the microbes would grow even at the low temps.

I agree, microbes would have grown in the water, and could cause disease in your chickens. It probably isn't a good idea to give them rainwater in the first place.

Thanks. Won't use it. I don't have a well, so the only other option for water chemical laced, public water.

i think rainwater is ok if it is fresh

Isn't the main chemical chlorine? You can get that out of the water by leaving it set for a day or by pouring it from one pitcher to another and back several times quickly so it splashes.
