Hi, I have some muscovy duck eggs and they are not hatching.
so I wanted to know if they are infertile.and if there was a way to know WITHOUT CANDELING.
And yes I know the eggs take about 35 days to hatch;).since i had hatched some in summer.Does winter affect duck egg fertility:/

There is no more effective way to check than candling, except wait out the 35 days and see if they hatch. I have hatched duck eggs in winter and had a very good hatch, but I'm not an expert on ducks and fertility rates, so I think you should rather ask that question in the Ducks section:

Is there a specific reason you don't want to candle?

Typically when we've candled our infertile duck eggs you would see right through them. We found it best to use a flashlight in the dark.

You could break the eggs open, but if they are alive and well, that won't help their hatching situation.

This can help you determine if you have fertile or infertile eggs before saving eggs to try and hatch.

Here are some graphic pictures of what you might see if you break open your eggs that are being incubated.

No there is no eeason not to try it the thing is that they all look the same to me an yet some hatch and others don't

Might be worth doing a postmortem on the eggs to try and get an idea of what is going on.

Also, I know some people weight their eggs to see if they are loosing or keeping enough weight through the incubation process. Some people using the candling method to ensure the air sacs are big enough.

I'm still new to the incubating thing, so I wish you luck.

I candled my eggs that were suppose to hatch (3 eggs) -2 Infertile
-1 Rotting
Thanks everybody
