I have 26 Barred Rock pullets, and have been looking for a young roo to go with them.
I am fairly new to this experience, so i'm not sure where to look. I have been told that it isn't quite time to purchase one yet....what is your opinion.

Hi, I am closer to central IN, about 60 miles north of Indy. I just received my first order of babies last week that included 3 barred rocks. Hope they are all female. I do have 6 BO's that are about 17 weeks old and one of them has turned out to be a rooster. Wanted to get rid of him, but hubby has convinced me to keep him, but don't plan on hatching any. Just want them for eggs. I'll bet your flock is great! Good luck.

Young cockeral's/roos have a tendency to be ready to mate before the girls are so I would suggest that you wait until your girls are laying eggs before introducing a roo if you don't want your girls harassed by an overly eager boy.

Have fun with your BR's. I have 4 BR's in my flock and just love them.

I have a niece that just moved from Greentown. She moved to 400N. Just down the road from Ed Otto. He does horse shoeing.

Been to greentown many a time. We will be down that way this month later too.

Thanks for the info on the roo. My pullets are 3 months old.
I think I will wait. I guess my mom new what she was talking about:cool:
I'm located about 17 miles from Terre Haute Indiana to the East. I am getting very attached to my little girls; thats for sure!
