Is there anything I’m missing? (Shed to poultry barn conversion)

The hardware cloth won't hold up with only staples attaching it to the framing. Add wood strips, screwed into the framing, for better security. And consider adding 2"x 4" woven wire to the lower 4' of the run, over the hardware cloth, also stapled and then with wood strips screwed over it.

This was right after construction, now stained and has worked very well.

I have already capped it with wood. Edited to reiterate that aside from this “under construction period” all birds will be locked in the shed or other predator proof coops at night which will also have a skirt around it and the runs.

Took some new pics this morning.

This is the baby/brooder coop. The coops on the side opposit have a wall separating them but for this I had him build in a sliding/removable wall so the coop can grow as the babies grow. The plywood hasn’t been cut but I’ll have a latch there to stop it from coming out. I was trying to design everything to have flexibility. Beneath these coops are going to be open floor coops for ducks that are broody or just hospital coops (aka temporary housing). But they are obviously not finished.

The coops opposite the brooder will have pop doors like this that open into enclosed runs (not built yet). I had to put in the door before I could hardware cloth so…

Impressive!

Almost done with the inside! Doors are solid steel security doors from Home Depot totally open and ventilation without sacrificing security. Allows a breeze to go through even when closed. I put 95% in blocking window film on the windows too (ran out so I did the lowers all the way around). Pic below is of the window opened to compare.

There is also a 14in fan mounted close to the ceiling on opposite corners to circulate the hot air at the roof. Plywood fascia was removed and replaced with hardware cloth. Also the clear roof panels were replaced with tinted pvc panels.

I can confidently say the hotbox is now cooler than the outside though not cooler than the shade.

I’m thinking that the big 25x16 ft run going on the other side will also help to cool when it’s complete. Ran out of money (or rather the contractor did) and so instead of a roof on that side I got a shade sail. We can complete the roofing ourselves and do it section by section. The panels are not cheap but well worth it.

Still full of clutter because we’re still working and everything has yet to find its home.
