Hi everyone. My name is Cayla and this here is my baby, his name is Tatootles! I’ve created this account because I want to know if there’s something wrong with him I know something is different about him. As you can see, he has some bald spots and most the time he has very red skin it’s not white like a normal looking chicken like the ones you see in the supermarkets/stores. He is a rooster, but his feathers are very rough and almost stiff to the touch. He’s very small for a rooster. He is a Frizzle bantam, but he doesn’t look like most of the frizzles I’ve seen on the Internet and I think he might have a deformity because he walks side to side almost like he’s drunk, and sometimes even walks backwards, with his head down and dragging his waddles on the floor. I’ve done some research, and I’ve read that when chickens walk like that it’s usually due to a vitamin deficiency, i’ve bought plenty of vitamins to put in their water and food but he still walks like this. Have you ever heard of the rooster walking like he’s drunk? Was he deformed when he was in the egg? I’ve also included pictures of him when he was a baby too. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

What all and how exactly are you feeding?
Frazzles are freaky, not surprised there may be other abnormalities with this type.
Mostly some table scraps, not very often because I don’t cook a lot, but when I do, it’s eggs, mashed potatoes, corn, or green beans and chicken food. Chicken food but he’s been doing this ever since he was a couple of months old (he’ll be 2years old this may)

Have you always fed this diet since he was a chick?
It is sorely lacking in the things chickens need to thrive.

I mean, whatever I cook he eats. He gets different things here and there but that’s what I cook most often, I should also mention he’s free range and he’s outside most of the day, I live in the country so there’s a lot of bugs and insects out here. I have other birds that I feed the same things too and they don’t have anything like that, they’re pretty healthy for the most part. He’s been like this since he was a chick I think maybe it’s some kind of deformity because I have noticed one of his foot curls inwards almost making a fist or maybe the mom was malnourished? Maybe his foot was always curled, and I just never noticed it before? I should also mention he shakes a lot kind of like a Chihuahua too? Any info would be appreciated, he’s got a lot of quirks about him that I’m noticing every day

I know this thread is a month old...just wondering about your frizzle...is he better?
He still walks side to side (like he’s drunk), but other than that, he’s great! He has trouble getting around sometimes and keeping up with the other birds is difficult for him. I’m thinking he maybe has a disability because he’s done this ever since he was young (he’s 2 yrs now).

My folks have a bantam rooster that acts like that. He always seems drunk and always shakes. We figured he may have a problem with his nervous system. He is healthy....just the coop drunk.

Mine has a neurological issue with head shaking that he passed down to his offspring who is a cockerel, none of the pullets seem to have it which is odd, he shakes his head almost ALL the time and so does his chick. One of mine has walked backwards and shaked heads but was very very occasional.
