Is there such a breed?

ok.. here are the pics.. Remember these are F-1 birds. I just started playing with this. Im a traditionalist and a purest when it comes to "crossbreeding" So I struggled with the ethics of this for a while before I desided.. what the heck, I can always eat my mistakes.

Every bird you see in this collection of photos does have 3 things. The black and white barring, and some feathers somewhere that are barred and also have gold. All of these birds are 1/2 Buff Cochen and 1/2 barred Rock, yes they are ALL out of that cross, beleive it or not. The white roo is out of a barred rock hen, and a buff cochin rooster, the others are out of a barred rock rooster. I have some others running around that look pure buff cochin, but are full siblings to the white rooster. The hens are much younger and could very well no longer look pure buff cochen when they molt, that will be in about 2 months.

So here is the F-1 tour

Meet the boys, they were hatched in July, and are just now going through a molt. The hens have not even started to lay yet out of this batch.

This roo turned out pure white in most of the photos I took, I may have to bring him in the house tonight to get some good photos of his back and the color coming in on this molt. At least you get you see him.. I will try and get some better pics later. As he molts out the color is getting better and better as well. He hatched out pure white, the color you see has shown up since he started molting.

This one in the shade I think shows more color than any of the photos

The below bird feeder is 27" tall to give you an idea of the size of this guy.

This guy is stockier than the white one, and is my absolute favorite for temperment and I love the way he looks.. He always gets extra bread for being so handsome *grins* He also has gold flecks however in the photos.. it is very hard to see. He has very few, but enough I held him back. I really liked his over all confirmation as well, and his mother was a wonderful layer.

Here are some of the F-1 hens that are full siblings to the white roo. They threw me a curve. They either look Full cochin, as I have mentioned that can change when they molt, or like the black/gold one.. have both color patterns and no barring.. yet.. thier brouther had NO barring untill just about 2 weeks ago, so that could change, but I don't think it will on these girls. They will be breed to both roos next year, with a 30 day hold inbetween.
