The other day I was at north 40 “looking” at the chicks, I have always wanted silkies. So I was simply admiring the bantom chicks when one of the employees asked if she could help me and out of curiosity I asked if there were any silkies in the assorted bantoms she said yes and pulled one out so I impulse bought two of what she claims to be black silkies is there anyone here who can clarify that for me?
If it didn’t come from a hatchery Id say it looks like a Cochin silkie cross since it almost looks like it has black skin but since it probably did come from a hatchery it actually overall looks like a black cochin. Are all the pictures of the same chick?
Is it possible for a silkie to only have four toes because they definitely only have four but their skin is black and they have black legs with a tiny bit of tan on their toes and I believe Cochins have tan legs
The chick also doesn't have a crest or muffs, some have muffs, some don't, but all have a crest. That's not a silkie no matter how hard you want it to be unfortunately.
