I bought some eggs online, and all went well with hatching, but I seem to have 3 different types of birds. it was supposed to be silver and gold laced Wyandotte bantams, but some of the gold seem to be a blue colour where they should be black and are also a lot darker (more red) where the gold should be. the pics don't really show it up too well but the second pic is of a very grey looking bird, they also seem to have some barring in the blue.
Although some of them seem fine, the third pic is a better bird.
I have never had any of my own gold laced look like this and I don't keep blue.
Is this a blue laced or a very bad strain of gold?

blue?

gold

Thanks...=]

Top bird does look like a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte. The bird beneath it is a Silver Laced Wyandotte, and the one on the right side is a Golden Laced Wyandotte.

Your correct on 1 and 3 but 2 looks like someone might have jumped the fence!

I know the gold and silver, I just put them up to show how grey the second pic is. What I want to know is, is the second pic a blue laced wyandotte, or does the barring suggest it is something else crossed with a gold. It hatched from an egg that was supposed to be gold.

Not the best pictures, but this is my blue laced

I just got a message from the seller saying
gold laced , blue laced and buff laced all come from the same gene pool so even tho you they are pure gold laced they should give you 50% gold then 25% blue laced and 25% buff laced
But surely they would need to have blue and buff breeding to do this and therefore arnt pure golds.

The seller is right but used confusing terminology.
He probably breeds blue laced gold to blue laced gold, which gives 50% blue laced gold [what he called 'blue laced'], 25% black laced gold [he called it 'black laced'] and 25% splash laced gold [he called it 'buff laced'] All of these are on a gold [buff] base, the only difference is the blue gene, which turns black to blue[1 gene] or splash[2 genes, almost white, pale blue-gray with some darker blue speckles.].

Thanks for explaining that, very helpful. Although he's still claiming they're pure gold laced with no blue breeding at all.
Sorry for the late reply.
