This chick is 8 weeks old tomorrow. I have seen other pics of Buffs and they are a bit darker. This one looks like she is going to be white. When I ordered my chicks the first one was a Buff Orpington because I have always wanted one. I just don't know if they turn color as they get older or if she is another breed? Thanks for reading...oh yeah, her name is Valentina.

I ordered 4 chicks from a feed store that is suppose to be reputable. We drove 60 miles one way to get these chicks. I specifically told them that I wanted a Buff Orpington. I was assured that it was.
Three days later, one of the other chicks died. Don’t know why. There wasn’t much I could do since the feed store was so far away and I wasn’t going to drive all the way back to the feed store for one chick.
As Valentina kept getting bigger, I knew she wasn’t going to be a buff.
There is not a lot I can do about it now. I have the allowance of chickens for my area, plus one. It wouldn’t be so bad but I have three other chickens in the backyard that are about two years old. I was told by Big R that THEY were going to be Buff Orpingtons! That is why I thought going to a reputable feed store that specializes in selling all different breeds would have been the proper place to go.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get the breed you wanted. Valentina looks like she could also be a White Easter Egger. I see what could be a pea comb and small muffs.

I also originally wanted to get Buff Orps from a breeder. I never got an Orpington, but I am happy with my Marans and Ameraucanas

and maybe we can try for Orps another time!

Wishapup has good eyes. I can't tell by looking what kind of comb she has. What color are her legs?

Sorry, she isn't a Buff Orpington. I have a few that I ordered from Meyer Hatchery that have been a buff color the entire time. As far as I am aware they are always buff and don't darken from white to buff with age.
