Is this a Crowing Hen???

So we have this chicken named Kludd. She's a two and a half some-odd year Buff Orpington hen. Whenever she gets ticked off, she makes a sound like this:
"BRAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Is that Crowing???? I've heard that hens can learn to crow...is that what Kludd's doing?

All chickens are capable of making a wide range of sounds and noises. Every one is meaningful to them, we just don't understand their language. Some sounds become obvious after a while, like the growling sound a sitting hen makes when you approach her - she's telling you to leave her alone. Or the rapid chirpy noises the rooster makes when he finds a source of food - he's calling the hens to enjoy some tasty morsels. Usually a lead hen will make a sound like crowing in the absence of a rooster. But since I have two roos my hens rarely try to crow. They are content with making all other sorts of sounds. Maybe that is just Kludd's way of letting everyone else know she is upset about something.

She's letting you know she's upset. My lead hen sounds like a duck! She almost quacks! It's so funny. She's always quaked ever since she was a baby. Watch and you will understand most sounds and why they are making them. She's likely just letting every one know she's angry.my favorite sound they make is the purr. Mine purr when happy like a cat. They will purr when petted, purr when they find a tasty morsel, purr when they settle in for the night and purr when sunbathing. It's the sweetest sound!

When some of my girls lay their eggs they'll run around clucking and "crowing" for a good 5 minutes straight, lol. That's the only time they make much noise though.
