I just bought 5 Black shoulder Peafowl that are 2 years old for $300 do you think that was a good price. We wanted to add more to our little flock and they are so hard to find.

Black shoulders are pricier from what i've seen but i have no knowledge on if that was a good price or not. A black shoulder chick at the petstore (yes the petstore) in town 30 mins from here was $70 but im sure that price is inflated from what it was sold to the petstore at.

Most breeders around here that sell their adult birds (india blues and such) sell them for over $100 each, so I think you got a good deal!

Not a bad price, the Blackshoulder sell for just a little more than the India blues.

I sell my breeders for 150.00 a pair. thats 3yrs old or older.
Females sell for more than the male.

Your 2 yr old will breed for you in the spring.

Blackshoulder is a pattern, can come in many colors. The blues have blackshoulder and are the cheapers one. Purples BS have brown shoulders, Opal BS have silvershoulders. Reason BS are now called soild wing.

How many of each sex?

There were 3 females and 2 males, and we got a pair of frizzled chickens.
They are the black shouldered blues. We bought our other pair in october and were born the previous spring for $60.

I will hopefully take some pictures today if they come out of the coop. Thus far they are happy chilling in their with our younger pair in there they for some reason like to stay in the coop rather than free range.
