Im letting my cornish rocks free range at one week. But during the night i lock them up until morning. Is this a good idea any better suggestions.?

I did that this year too. My birds were very good size, so I don't think it hurt them, but I don't think they ate much other than the crumble. At least I never saw them scratching.
