I bought this chick from a local breeder. She told me they were pure lavender Brahma and I’ve looked at her website and farm page and the adults look like pure brahmas. But a few people are telling me this one isn’t? Also, it’s about 6 weeks old and is feathering super slow! Anyone know why??

Large fowl tend to feather slower, same with cockerels. Leg feathering looks a little light on the legs, why are people telling you they aren't Brahmas? I haven't seen Lavender in Brahmas but I mean just cause it isn't showable/standard doesn't mean it couldn't technically exist? Do you have pics of the parents? :)

yes but every other Brahma chick I’ve seen at 6 weeks is almost completely feathered. I’ve been talking to a local woman who bought a chick from the same woman it’s out of the same hatch I believe and it has so many more feathers. A few people said the legs should be yellow to be Brahma? Here is the website of where I got them and pics of parents.

What feed are they on? And the slow feathering *could* be a sign of it being a cockerel but I hope not! :'(

I would be okay if it was a cockerel! Haha I had planned to keep it either way but not if it’s a mix. I have been feeding this one and some other breed chicks 20% dumor chick starter/grower. All the other chicks have feathered normally
