Is this a recipe for disaster?

I would suggest Muscovies.

They don't need a pool or much water, compared to other ducks. They are also great at staying safe & alive....they are roosting ducks...so they'd need a high place to be safe at night....and they are large enough that I have never lost any to predators by the air...and we have eagles, owls, hawks, etc. They will eat your garden & swim in your pool, given the chance....

Really?! Like on Barnyard? Donkeys deter predators? NEAT! Do they really kick them in the head?

You should see them kick the dogs! LOl...before you feel sorry for the dogs understand that there are times when they literally harass those donkeys. It is the german shepherd and the giant schnauzer - they can't help it - herding isntincts die hard!

Our little weiner dog was harassing one the other day - and finally she moved just quick enough to get him in the leg. His reaction was priceless - he cried out then he actually turned around and yelled at her! He recovered, and she smiled.

But yes, I wouldn't mess with those donkeys if I were a coyote.

I can't remember any one stating it but don't let them in your pool unless you want to clean, clean, clean. They can be dirty little buggers in water, trust me I have to clean my ducks "pond" daily.
