Help, our sweet Maxine has begun making cock a doodle doo sounds but not quite. Is she Just a loud hen? She’s aggressive with my husband but not me or our kids. She’s definitely the boss around our other chick (Barney) but still stays close to her/enjoys its company. Thanks in advance!!

Thanks, all. Disappointed bc we can’t keep roosters, and he was also our sweet one!

Welcome! Cockerels can seem 'sweet' when they are actually being bold, and sizing you up. He's definitely a cockerel! Call him
Max' and move him on if you can't have him.
Meanwhile, more pullets, because a lone chicken is a miserable chicken.

Thank you! Definitely plan on getting more pullets ASAP. And good to know re: “sweet behavior.” This is all new to us and we’re learning a lot. Thank you!
