hey guys,

I have this 13week old "presumed" SLW pullet, but I am not so sure :(......she/he is bigger and more aggressive than the rest...what do you guys think?

oh man!!! why do you guys think so? when does he start crowing?....thank you

A roo for sure. Look at the saddle feathers near his back end. He'll start crowing when he feels like it. I have 2 roo's over a year old and only one of them has crowed. And only crowed twice. I had 3 other roo's last year that started crowing about 5 months and never stopped.

Depends on the bird. Some can start to crow as early as 8 weeks (That is kinda weird) most times they start around 12-18 weeks old. You can see he is a roo by looking at his comb, waddles, and feathering! :)

A good breeder should be able to take him back & give you a same age pullet in its place. Happened to me once. Got 4 out of 6 birds being cockerels. Mistakes happen. Good luck!

Quote: Yeah, it's like that. I won't breed any noisy rooster, I don't care what he looks like, it breeds truer than many other traits. Unfortunately it can be learned too. I've found leghorns and some bantams to be the noisiest things, going off at all hours... And some roosters are quiet as mice. I like those ones. :P
