I have 4 hens all of which are laying except one but she is the only one who my rooster will mount she's bout 7 months old and her half sister just started laying 3 days ago. I'm just curious should i double my search efforts ( They are all free range so every days an Easter egg hunt) or start preparing for more eggs. She has been acting a little funny today though singing alot and keeps visiting a certain bush but every time i check in it i find nothing... except briers

to be honest I'm beginning to think this hens just setting me up, so any words of wisdom, will eggs becoming soon?

If she squats for the rooster willingly, she's either very close to laying or already at it. Or your rooster is not a gentleman, which isn't far fetched either. If you have a run, I'd lock them in and train them to use their nest boxes (unless you like hunting for eggs- I don't bc I never know how long they've been sitting). A few fake eggs or golf balls might get them to use the boxes without locking them up, but its doubtful if they've already got a good clutch going in a well hidden place...

She squatted for him willingly today that's why i had to ask and no i don't have a run yet in the process of building one. I have tried the golf ball thing with my older hens they kicked the ball out scratched all the bedding out sat there a little and left to go lay in a nice thorny bush i reckon I'll try again with her and her sister but thanks for the advice
