I have a young cockrel blue cochin who has red in his wing feathers. Wondering if this is a breed trait or should I remove him from my breeding stock? Appreciate any information on this.

You should remove him from your breeding stock. You do not want to have red in the feathers in Blue Cochins. In fact, according to the American Poultry Association's Standard of Perfection, "Red, yellow, orange, or pure white in any section of the plumage" is a disqualification.
