When I was watching my flock the other day, I noticed a weird discoloration in my hen ,Star, her comb and beak flaps.... They are a peachy color instead of their normal bright pink/red... Is this bad? Or is it just natural when hens start to lay?
Please answer!

Comb color is linked to chicken health, so it's good that you are observant. Combs do change color when hens begin to lay- usually they become brighter red, but there's always an exception to the rule and I've seen hens go pale. What you don't want are shriveled combs. Combs that turn dark, not red but brownish, are a sure sign of illness. As hens start to lay their mineral and protein balance can go out of whack - the inputs (feed and water) are close to the outputs (eggs and manure) so make sure they're eating properly.
