Is this broody behavior?

My BO laid her 2nd egg today. She just sat in the nest on it for 3 hours before I knew she had already laid it. I reached under her to get it. She was all quiet until I took it. She walked out to the chicken run and squaked for 30 min. Was she mad I took it? Or just singing her egg song? Is it even possible for her to be going broody after her second egg laing? Or is this just natural egg laying behavior? Would she insist on sitting on the nest even with no eggs if she were?

Sometimes when chickens first start to lay they will stay on the nest for quite a while. It is just a part of them getting used to laying eggs, the hormones, etc. I have one Light Brahma who occasionally sits on the nest for quite a while after laying her egg and she is almost a year old. Maybe she just appreciates the quiet and relative darkness. Chickens are like any other animal and differ from bird to bird. Good luck with your girls.

Thanks, just wondering. Thought it was weird. Chickens are so funny with their personalities and pecking order. This chicken inpeticular has a brand new personality since she started laying. SHe would never let me touch her before let alone pick her up without screaming lol. She is ALWAYS first one to the end of the fence waiting for me to throw her some scraps. It's wierd to see her hanging out in the coop alone.
