Is this bumblefoot?

I went back and re read it: no typo's must mean can be passed into the egg with a predisposition to the disease. Its a Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that transmits from hen to an egg. It does seem strange if the egg hatches why it would show up just in foot area?

Jeanette, What kind of chicken is she? Looks like something huge! My 4 girls from you are getting large! Still very shy but quite beautiful! Hope you find a cure for your new gal!

She is a large fowl cochin. I just bought some from someone up in Mass. One of the birds has this on both feet. I have kept her separate however, they did live in a coop together. The feet do not look bad at all. I am hoping this is a very minor case and doesnt get worse. It really looks like just a scab to a really deep hole. The one on the other foot is even smaller and not swollen at all. She gets around just fine.

What can happen, if left untreated, is that it can go systemic and kill the bird. This is a staff infection, so can get quite nasty. I've treated this stuff over and over. Some birds get it once and then, when healed, dont get it again. Others cant seem to shake it.
