I bought 6 keets from the local feed store just over two weeks ago. I wanted keets so I could train them to go up with my chickens at night and keep them in the safety of the coop. I initially put them in a "nursery" inside the coop to help introduce them to the chickens and the coop to them. Last night I finally cut a small door allowing them out into the coop but keeping the chickens out. They made a run for it! Here's the odd part; one of my buff orpingtons has adopted the keets! They follow her around, she throws pellets down for them and she tries to tuck them under her during rest time! It's hilarious because they are so big that she can barely fit one under her. It hasn't stopped her from trying though! She wasn't broody and they were not hatched out by a hen. I estimate them to be about 7 weeks old. Is this odd or what?!

A lot of people say Orps are great Mommas (tho they usually go broody first, lol). I bet she will integrate those keets into the flock for you and teach them to come in each night etc. I think it's safe to say your work is done at this point, just sit back and enjoy ... and take some pics! Congrats
