This chicks father is a Novogen Brown rooster. Its mom is a cross from a Splash Marans rooster over a silver leghorn hen. The chick came out a silver and black chipmunk and is now getting what appears to be barring? Or is it just some random coloring? I believe its color scheme is heavily influenced by its maternal grandmother, the Silver Leghorn. As far as I know, there is no barring in its lineage. Oh, and a little help sexing would be great too. 2 weeks old in this picture. And suggestions?

Yes, partridge causes stripes like that on the wings. And you're right, it's likely coming from the Silver Leghorn.

No not barring. Just part of the juvenile duckwing pattern. It'll go away.

Here's its older brother. Same pattern, but a month older. I wonder if that pattern is gender specific, or does that not matter?
