So I think my flock has Coryza and I have lots of questions. I got some new adults and I didnt quarintine them and days later they were sick. My Neighbors around me have lots of chickens too.
My Leghorn rooster was the first to get it and he still has it bad. He had a very week crow a month ago and was snoring at night and then started sneezing and he still has a bit of a cough and a little runny. I lost two buff orpingtons after that, they were really runny and had bubbles in their eyes and then stopped eating. They were the only two to stop eating. Their third sister got it last but she is eating and just has the sniffles and a little water in her eyes some time. My black sex link got the sniffles and wattery eyes and two ameracana hens got slightly swollen wattery eyes. The last to get it were the younger chicks and they just have a little bit of a runny nose, not too bad really and they dont seem to care. All the older ones stopped laying and havent layed in a month and the younger ones are not old enough yet. I have two game hens that are still laying and are showing no sympoms at all and a turkey doing the same and is happy as can be. The older ones sometimes smell a little on their heads but not too strong and not all the time.
Do they have Coryza? I called a place that had a test panel for chicken diseases and they wanted $100 and I cant aford. Does anyone know where I can get it for a better price? And finally, if they do have coryza I will vaccinate my new chicks. I do not want to get rid of my flock espically since I have neighbors with chickens all around me and I dont see a point if all of them could have it too.
How effective has anyone seen the coryza vaccene to be with their flocks?
