New to having a cockerel around. When I have been cooking up eggs, I have been doing fertility checks. This is the first I have seen that "maybe" looks fertilized to me. Eggs are collected daily.
3 of my 7 pullets are laying (2 BCM for almost a month and 1 BO for about 2 weeks) He (BO) and all the ladies are about 23 weeks old. He has his favorite girls he mounts routinely, and mildly harasses the ones that haven't reach point of lay.
This particular egg belonged to the BO, which is interesting because although he thinks he breeds her often, he often misses. She had a hard time getting her fluffy butt feathers out of the way of her vent...they miss more times than they make contact.
Just curious, as inevitably I assume a few of my girls will go broody this year and would love to let them hatch some chicks...gives me a head start knowing if everyone's plumbing is working correctly.
