Is this just old age?

Our older hen is no longer laying. She is 3 years 9 months. She seemed sick for about a month, barely eating and we were sure she was not going to make. Then she molted all her feathers. Now she seems healthy again, eating fine, but is still not laying. The rest of her looks back to her normal, but her head looks odd. Is this just old age or is she still sick.

During molt they don’t really feel so great-they usually stop laying, don’t eat as much, and generally just stand around. Could be old age. Does she eat well now? It could just be after effects of the molt. How long ago did she molt?

She's still molting, that's why her head looks weird. The feathers are still growing in. And it sounds like she may have been brooding before she started molt. She'll probably start laying in a few more months, once the days get long enough.
