is this medicated chick starter?

It is most likely cocci. I get my 16 oz bottle of Corid from a local feed store in Murphy, NC, called Wayne's Feed. None of the other five in the area, inc TSC, carry the Corid. I think you could probably order it at some feed stores, but if you can't find it and they are ill, you'll need to do liquid Sulmet. The instructions for poultry are on the bottle.

Add powdered milk to their starter crumbles, maybe 1/3 of the total, give them plain yogurt, raw goat's milk or pasteurized if you can find it, the probiotic mash that Glenda recommends, etc. Milk treatment will help somewhat.

I've been putting probiotics in their water. I had some on hand...

is that what blood in the poop looks like? like a little piece of raw hamburger?

I've read that article

so, it is saying that they can have a minor infection of it and overcome it on their own... yes? could mine overcome it on their own since its been going on for a week and they aren't getting worse? or is the corid a must? Im just wondering this because it was saying that fighting off the small stuff will help build the immune system... is it better to just give the Corid or see if they can over come it on their own? or is that just asking for trouble?

I had elevated their water and food a few days back. it is staying a lot cleaner. I clean their bedding once per day. I was taking them outside to get sun, but I stopped sicne they were acting funny. should I just put their brooder out in the sun and not let them run in the ground to catch more cocci?

also, are there any risks to giving the Corid? like could some get worst sick by using it?

If the infection/infestation is mild, meaning no blood in the poop, they may overcome it, but usually, they need treatment. I'd get the Corid, though sometimes, it's hard to find in a small bottle like I get.

Yes, it's pretty expensive. My 16 oz cost $20, so you can imagine that a gallon would be quite expensive. There are no real risks with the Corid. It's concentrated Amprolium, the same med in the starter feeds.

oh gosh... hmmmm. hopefully they have the small bottle! if not I'll have to order online.
