Can anyone tell me if this looks like mites? It's been like this for a month or so, is not getting worse, and she seems pretty clean otherwise. We no longer have a rooster, but I can't remember if it started when we had him or not.

Thankful for any info.

No, that does not look to be mites! :yesss: This is on many chickens, it's just something that happen to some birds! It's not unusual!! Since you keep everything clean, and they have fresh food, water and shade then there is no reason to suspect mites.

Good luck!:thumbsup
Thank you. I was concerned. I guess the feathers will grow back in?

To check them over real well for mites and/or lice....

Google images of lice/mites and their eggs before the inspection so you'll know what you're looking for.

Part the feathers right down to the skin around vent, head/neck and under wings.

Best done well after dark with a strong flashlight/headlight, easier to 'catch' bird and also to check for the mites that live in structure and only come out at night to feed off roosting birds.

Wipe a white paper towel along the underside of roost to look for red smears(smashed well fed mites).
