Hey guys

First time owning chooks, they are all 21ish weeks old now and finally getting eggs woohoo!!

My Wyandotte has suddenly lost its neck feathers and I’m not sure if it’s moulting or if it’s something else. Just wanted some opinions.

I’ve never witnessed any of my chooks bully each other and to be honest I thought this Wyandotte was the top of the Peking order (at least she was but she’s not the biggest anymore)

Thanks for any help

My chickens have that also. I am no expert but it looks like shes getting new feathers.

Probably left overs from the last juvenile molt,
hard to reach back there to preen off the sheathing.

Chickens molt and grow a new set of feathers 2-3 times before around 6 months of age, those are called the juvenile molts.
Some pullets will have a partial molt their first fall/winter.
Most birds will have their first full adult molt their second fall/winter.
