Mycoplasma?? 🥺 This is Buffy. Just 15 minutes before these pics, I saw unmistakeable bubbly clear liquid in THE EYE OF THE 1ST 2 PICS BELOW, in the chicken yard! No sneezing or coughing... I immediately ran to check each of the other nine birds' eyes; saw nothing at all. None of them is coughing or sneezing either.
I scooped Buffy up to take into the garage, into a cage. That's when I took these pics. I hoped we might be in the clear because her eye looks fine here. BUT when I checked her in the garage 5 minutes later I saw that her nares were runny. They just have clear water that's ever present.

She has a really good appetite & ate food wetted & mixed with some Poultry Booster.
15 min later, checked her again. Still no bubbly eye but her nares were still damp! She also has a little dirt in this nare (the nare near the eye that Was bubbly earlier). And this time, I listened closely and heard a light ticking when she breathed. 😢

Over a week ago, the weather went from 70° to very cold, windy rain/sleet/ snow. And then back to the 50s, then 60, then blowing and cold again... I read that a sudden turn to very cold and damp could be a cause of Mycoplasma.

This is a first for me to find, so I'm in need of advice please! I looked for some preliminary info online...

It's after 8 p.m. Sunday.
Questions: Do I treat with Tylan 50? If so I won't have it until tomorrow evening after work, after running to TSC to buy it. Also, do I need to treat the rest of the flock with Denegard - in their water? If so I will not have that until it arrives from ordering it online (which I can do tonight). Would I also need to somehow sanitize their housing??

I also read online that an infected bird could just keep getting it? I'm so worried about Buffy and the rest of the flock. 😢

3rd Pic is of the Non-Bubbly eye; however, that nare is damp as well.

Check her over for lice/mites really well.

Observe her for a few days to see if she continues to have a few bubbles in the eyes, mucous or any other symptoms.

Have you added new birds recently or do you have a history of respiratory disease in your flock?

No new birds; last additions were hatched by Buffy in March. I don't visit other farms. No respiratory illness history for sure in the past 5 years, and I got Buffy 5 years ago. There was one bird who *might* have had a respiratory illness in the months before I got Buffy (I was a very new chicken keeper at that time so I didn't know much, but I for sure remember that that bird in the past never had bubbly eyes).

I'll check her over, keep her in the garage and continue to watch her eyes and nares, and listen to her breathing. Meanwhile, I'll be looking over the rest of the flock daily. A bummer is that these days, except for the weekends, I can only get to the coop while they're still asleep in the a.m. and after they've been asleep a little while in the p.m., due to work schedule. (I guess that could be a good thing too.)

I freaked out when I saw that in her eye outside. I had never seen bubbles in eyes in any bird before.

I'd see if the bubbles return.

It may be that she got some dirt in her eyes. If you wish, you can gently rinse her eyes with saline and wipe the face clean, this will give you a starting point for observation, this way you can be fairly certain bubbles are not from debris if they happen to return.

Great idea. I just checked in on her sleeping in the garage (3 hrs later), and her nares were Not wet, and bubbles still had not returned. I listened as close as I could, and didn't hear anything either.
I'll give her eyes a saline rinse. I bought some plain saline solution just for the chickens (can't remember for what) a couple of months ago. Wish me luck as I put a few drops in each eye! She'll probably freak out! :)
I'll check her nostril too. I had thought about wetting a q-tip to dab and see if I could get a little dirt out if needed and if I could reach it.
