Is this normal behaviour?

The other day I went into my chickens' run to have a tidy and a chat with my two ladies - a BO and a Partridge Orp. I bent down to be at their level and had a chat and fed them a few bits of lettuce. I stroked one of them and then all of a sudden the partridge orp looked at me, her pupils became very large and glassy and she seem to collapse against the BO. I quietly stood up and walked away and she simply got back up and carried on with her business! Very wierd. I wondered whether this was a shock tactic, stress or she was telling me to back off! The BO at this time tried to peck me and did little else! Has anyone else come across such behaviour?

It sure doesn't sound like normal behavior to me, but I'm no expert. Hopefully, someone will come along with more experience than I have. Sounds odd to me.

Oh thanks!

This was just after breakfast and I had cleaned my teeth so I don't think this was the problem.

Thanks for being so personal!

Weird.

I don't think you needed a tick tac. Even when my coup is first clean is smells so I doubt your breath did it.

Good luck though and let us know if it happens again.
