Hey, so basically I posted month ago about my young girl who was just 6 month. She is about to turn 8 this month and I found something very odd.
Her comb started to grow but it seams to be still smaller than our other Hens who are way younger than her.
She just laid her first egg today which gave me also a surprise. It's not very small, but it's average sized small egg.
Very hard to.
Is it normal for Hens in the winter months to grow their combs slower than regular Hens do? She does get the right amount of feed as all my Hens do.
Could it be I have nothing to worry, as she seams very happy, loves to go outdoors and eat fresh grass.
I just wanted to find out just incase because something was stopping her comb from developing any further but it looks like her comb started to grow.

Size of the comb is genetic. I have Chanteclers that have very small combs and wattles.
I think genetic could be one of the factors of small combs. As she is a warren cross. Not sure what our rooster was, definitely had a crest gene as you can see she has the crest feathers
