is this normal?

best guess is the chicks are about a week old

i put their chick feed in a pie tin and mix in a little bit of Gravel'N'Grits (it's for parakeets - gravel - calcium carbonate - clay)

they eat and sleep in the pie tin ..... they wake up for 5-10 minutes to eat and drink ... then they sleep for 20-30 minutes ... then wake up again ... rinse and repeat

right now that is all they do .... is that normal?

Yes thats normal, although they don't need grit unless you feed them something other than crumbles
