Is this gap at the top of our newly built chicken coop going to let predators in? Should we close it or is it good for air ventilation?

if your unsure you can put some hardware cloth over the spot. that way itll still allow the air flow but deny predators

That definitely needs to be covered in 1/2 inch hardware cloth.
Any holes or openings need to be covered.
