I have been reading all about it but I don't ever remember seeing a picture of it. I would appreciate any insight so I can increase my knowledge

Are you able to get it off? If you can simply wash it or remove it off than I would not worry much it's when there is a lot and it is obstructing anything else from exiting the vent.

It took about 5 mins to get off with running water and some gently brushing with a paper towel.
