My mother-in-law used to hatch chicken eggs in Vietnam. She said what she did was bury the eggs in rice chaff and let them sit there. When they are about to hatch, just uncover them and they will hatch. I asked her if she ever turn the eggs, she said no. She said the hatch rate is about 80% (12 chickens out of 15 eggs). No deform chicks.
I trust her and believe she told the truth but when I read online, I saw people said the temperature cannot vary more than 2 or 3 degree with all the egg turning hassles.
To you experienced people here, do you know anything like this?

that sounds amazing. rather like how reptiles bury their eggs in a warm composting mound of earth where the heat hatches the eggs.

I only wish that the temperature of incubation determined the sex of the hatchling, like in reptiles!
