Is this Pox, Favus, or possibly a double whammy?

I noticed these black spots on our 23-week-old BR rooster's comb last week, but just assumed they were normal as no other chicken had anything like it. Then I read about fowl pox. I wasn't sure that's what it was, because I didn't see anything on his wattles or ear lobes, and none of the black spots was raised. A couple days ago I came across some postings about favus. I saw some pictures where the fungus had turned black. Is at this point that I realized that all the "grooves" in his comb were white. At first I thought it was dust, but now I am not so sure. I had previously posted about how pale the comb of one of my Golden Comet pullets is, even though she has started squatting and poking around the nest boxes. Now I wonder if there could be a layer of fungus on her little comb that makes it look paler than it would otherwise.

Besides this rooster, we have a BR pullet, 2 GC pullets and 1 BO pullet all the same age, and another BO that is about 12 weeks old. None of them has any black spots on their combs or wattles. All of them are acting perfectly healthy. No one else has a "red" comb except for the BR hen.

Any ideas?

Nobody would dare peck him. He is definitely king of the roost, the only rooster, and twice the size of the next largest chicken in the flock. There has never been any fighting, nor any blood.

Hi, did you ever find out what this was? My rooster also had black spots and now I am noticing it turning pale.
