Is this safe for a coop?

Is this bedding safe for a coop? See pic.

I've been using pine but the store by me stopped selling it and it's three times the price online.

Anyone used this? It would be for their actual coop, not a run.

What kind of wood? I see "softwood." If it is cedar, it is not good for chickens. The aromatic oils can cause them respiratory issues.

Their website says it can be used for chickens. It mentions "soft woods" such as spruce, fir, and pine in the FAQ section, but their product packaging/specific page(s) don't seem to mention what kind of wood is used (perhaps it is a combination of the above mentioned woods)... It seems like they're marketing the product for horses primarily, but the site does mention chickens specifically. Since they offer a range of sizes (sawdust, fine, medium, pellets, etc.), it might be a good idea to email them directly to see what they suggest for chicken litter.

If it's safe for the much more expensive horses it's almost certainly safe for the chickens.

Eastern Red Cedar is the wood that can cause problems because of the volatile oils. But it is sold separately for more money.
