Is this scaly leg mites?

I noticed today that some of my girls' scales on their legs look a bit weird. Is it leg mites?
Chicken #1: (Poppy)

Chicken #2: (Ruth)

Is this something to worry about? Of the other two chickens, one has perfectly smooth scales, and one has only very slightly raised scales in the same areas. They've been acting normally.

Their legs also don’t seem irritated, and they aren’t limping or anything.

Nice thing about Bag Balm once a day for 7-10 days? If it's not mites, their feet and legs look great afterwards.

Medicated udder balm. Petroleum jelly will work fine too

And do you put that on and leave it on? Bring them inside?

They do look a bit weird. I would put petroleum jelly on them just to see if the scales get better.
No need to bring them inside. You could put the jelly on while they are roosting at night, it may be easier to grab them.

Yes, but not sure I'd treat with anything 'wet' in freezing weather.
You could pack some permethrin dust up under the scales....
...or wait until it warms up.
