Well It is time for my son's (8) very first chicken show this Saturday at a 4h fair. I have never done this before and though I do not expect to win I also don't want to be laughed out either. I think all of my chickens are beautiful but need to decide who to bring. This is Annabelle she is 4 months old a little dirty from playing outside but she cleans up nice nothing a little vinagar and water can't handle. Anyway any coments on her would be appreciated. Thanks I love BYC!

The comb looks very good from here. It follows and keeps close to her head. Could use a little more lacing in the front but it gets better with age:) She is a very good looking bird!

During my 4-H fair I brought a cross beaked girl

4-H is so much fun!

No she is not. Her body is a trianglular shape, the lacing is not as nice as it should be. I will say that the lacing on her saddle feathers are better than any I have purchased from a hatchery, but she still seems to be production quality.

ETA: If it's a 4H show, go ahead and bring her. 4H shows are generally not APA sanctioned so they use their own rules in which to judge. Who knows...you may have the champion of the show with yours.

I judged a 4H show just this morning & she's better than the 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes I handled there. 4H shows are intended to be fun & positive learning experiences. In NY [& I judge several 4H shows each summer] we emphasize the care to bird ahs received since it's a given that most birds shown will come from hatcheries. Your bird is not a "Show Quality" bird & she would not do well in an open show. She is clean & in very good overall condition. In a 4H show she should do just fine. Have fun!
