My turkeys didn't get a good start hence this weight at 16 weeks, 22lbs(9.98kg). My birds are quite anxious and wouldn't allow to be handled easily. Using foot scales has always been a problem. They don't stand the way they need to and that means I have to try to force the desired posture and that doesn't sound good for me. They don't weight steady. This way calms them down, stabilises their posture and the scale gives the displacement reading approximately. But, is it appropriate?

I would use regular scales and subtract my weight from the total weight to get the turkey's weight.

Thanks so much, man. I just did that and the weight I got is less than the one on the hanging scale. Digital bathroom/foot scale(117.5-108.1 = 9.4kg)
The reading on the analog hanging scale is almost 10kg, more like 9.9kg. Which do I go for?

It would not be surprising if your bathroom scale is not as accurate. One method of checking would be to wiegh a known amount and see what you get with both scales. Perhaps try an unopened sack of flour or sugar.

All right. Thanks once again.

Alot of people will use there own personal scale. They weigh themselves then hold the turkey if possible and reweigh and subtract that from the first total to get the weight of the turkey. There are some great videos on YouTube of people doing this.
