Is this what I think it is? Welsummer Cockerel?

I ordered two Welsummer pullets with my batch of chicks this year. I've been noticing this one is getting much bigger and has a bigger comb. Now, I am seeing that their coloring is totally different with this one being much more black in the chest and the other one being lighter brown. I'm thinking this means I actually have one cockerel and one pullet. Unfortunately, I cannot keep roosters here, so I will have to rehome if that is the case. My chicks are about eight weeks old.

If you make arangements when you place him maybe you can borrow him for a bit this fall and brood out some chicks? :)

Check the depth of colour in its comb. Males have a deeper red. But it sure looks like a roo! I guess you just "lucked" out. Usually the odds are one in ten of an accidental roo. I'm sorry you cannot keep him in your area, but it would be a good idea to have him visit for a bit to get some chicks!

Thanks for looking! We actually got a total of 14 sexed pullets (plus some unsexed Silkies), so it's well within the margin of error to get a roo. I'm just a little sad because I really wanted more of the dark Welsummer eggs...that's why I got two Welsummers whereas I got only one of each of my other varieties. I'd love to keep him as he will probably be very handsome like the ones we've had in the past. But our current situation just doesn't allow. I do have a friend that lives nearby and has chickens. Maybe she can be persuaded to keep him and allow visitation. :)
