Hi there!
I recently got 4 ISA brown chicks and have been told they are growing too quickly? We were told they could be meat birds? And that TSC has made that mistake before with ISA browns?
We purchased an additional 6 Wyandotte chicks and you can see them all together to compare size. We got all of them from tractor supply. The ISA browns should be 3 weeks old and the Wyandotte chicks are day old chicks that we received today.
Also, my sister in law and I all purchased the ISA brown chicks together (8 total, we both have 4), and all of their beaks have cracked and broken since bringing them home. Anyone have any knowledge of this? Also attached a pic of one broken beak.

I wonder what in the world they are pecking hard enough to break their beaks!

Cornish cross will feather in pure white.

They really don't peck anything, that's the problem. We don't know why it's happening. Their beak ends are turning dark and falling off?

What is Cornish cross? I am so new to the chick life!

What color were the chicks when you got them? Isa browns will have reddish down.
Their heads have a pinkish hue. This is a photo of my 2 year old holding a chick a week ago.

A cornish cross often shortened to a CX is the most common meat bird sold at feed stores.

Who told you they are growing to fast?

The chick your kiddo is holding looks like an ISA brown to me. ISA browns are a sex linked breed....or rather crossbreed that gender can be determined at hatch by color of the chick.

So....to the beak issue....

What are you feeding them?

Yay that's good news! we are feeding them a starter feed that was recommended at TSC.
It was a few different people on a facebook post who told us that they looked like they were growing too fast.

@azygous @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive can you have a look at the chicks beak. Apparently the tips turned dark and fell off. They are just 3 weeks old.

@Kelleycabincoop I tagged a couple really great people to have a look at the broken beaks.
