Thought I'd share a few pics of a chick I hatched Sunday. I bought ~Lavender~Isabel~B/B/S~Split~from ChooksChick last month.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it's Isabel or Porcelain, but I'm not sure! But I have another batch (without the BBS) in the bator!

Please excuse my lousy photography! My son's very large kitten was trying to help!
The first pic I used a flash -- natural light for the rest.

Any guesses?

Cool! Can't wait to see what hatches next time!

Would I see the buff in the down if it was present?

I might not be a expert in Genetics, though the chick pictured does resemble mottled colouring.

In most chicks Buff is a yellowish to a brownish-yellow colour....I'll search for a example quickly.

ETA: The image supplied below is of courtesy of wilds of pa I take no ownership of the chicks in this image; nor hatching or breeding of these chicks in the image supplied.

Thanks! Just wishful thinking on my part seeing the yellow as gold.

But, there's always next hatch!
My mottleds don't have the headspot and seem more white to me. Of course I just recently realized that I was hatching them -- thought they were pale lavender!
