I’m looking to get some hatching eggs for some Isabelle Brahmanas. I’ve attached a picture of the rooster. This lady has beautiful birds but I’m a bit concerned about the feathering on the rooster. Should I be? How will this translate to chicks? I am looking to breed them in the future.

That's caused by the shredder gene. It's closely linked with the lavender gene so where the lavender gene goes it usually follows.
He has it bad so there's no doubt his offspring will. It can be bred away from/ bred out but it's not so simple to do.

Ok so would you say it’s maybe not a good idea? This breed is unheard of in our area but I’m not sure I want to deal with the shredding either.

Depends how much you want them.
With a newer variety that has lavender it's pretty much gonna come with the territory.
If that's a variety you really want you'll have to deal with it. If it's just a variety you're thinking about but not really a must have then ya probably not worth the head ache.

Thanks so much. That makes sense.
