I think the rental chickens and tractor idea is a good one. I live on a much larger island and have been thinking the same thing. It just seems a natural for summer visitors. I got an eglu cube for that purpose, partly because of the attatched run setup. If the girls take their run setup with them they likely won't be put off laying. I am torn between using sexlinks and hatchery easter eggers. I bet the kids would love the colored eggs.

Very cool! My wife and I have visited Maine numerous times. We love Monhegan Island. While out there last summer we saw a flock of free ranging barred rocks and then another even larger mixed flock penned in one of the residents yards. The lady at the art shop said that the only mammals on the island (minus dogs and cats) were norway rats.
